PRIVATE GROUPS (2 to 6 students)
Choose a day/time that works for your group & one project (feel free to email us an inspiration project for your group). PRIVATE GROUPS are the perfect choice to learn how to sew, with people you know. Parent & child, siblings, best friends, co-workers, team-building & more. Each group receives the same lesson but with many opportunities for customization (for example, a TOP lesson can include a tee shirt, cardigan, sweatshirt, the sky’s the limit for your group! Each session can last 2 to 3 hours total depending on number of participants & project. For all ages. Questions? Please email us!
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION (1 student, 2 hrs)
4 WK SESSION $175
For the student who is passionate about sewing/fashion design & wants to learn 4 different garments/wardrobe pieces! A great way to monitor your progress with each lesson. Meets once a week (2 to 2.5 hrs per lesson) for 4 weeks or spread it out depending on your schedule (4 meetings total). Learn at your own pace with a custom lesson plan catered to your sewing & fashion design goals. 4-WK sessions are perfect for students who desire one-on-one attention, flexibility in days/times & a thorough knowledge of both the design process & sewing construction. 4 WK sessions can also be condensed into a 2 WK session (meets twice a week for 2 weeks total) for more flexibility.
SEWING FOUNDATION
Technical instruction. All topics/classes at TISSU can be repeated with different projects. All supplies included & no experience necessary. You are welcome to bring in your own machine or custom textiles to any appointment. We always have practice textiles to use at the studio (included in fee).
SEWING 101 (TOPS) $60

Welcome to the world of SEWING! We'll show you everything you need to know to get started: machine threading, seams, textile properties, an overview of patterns & much more. This is also the perfect class to touch up on sewing skills if you haven't sewn for a while. Our main focus is for you to relax, have fun & learn how to use sewing as a lifelong meditative & tool. Now that you’ve completed SEWING 101, let’s dive deeper into intermediate machine functions, advanced seams, new sewing techniques & different methods to garment construction. Specialty textiles will be introduced including how to sew knits. SEWING 101 not required. Choose a project above during Online Registration or click "OTHER” & email us your dream project. PATTERNMAKING
COMMERCIAL PATTERNS $65

Learn how to utilize store patterns & sew garments with this tried & true garment construction technique. Suitable for all levels. We will show you how to dissect tissue patterns & begin/continue your sewing journey. Commercial patterns are technical & easy to understand (we promise!) once you understand all markings & sewing vocabulary. Suitable for all levels. Supplies list/syllabus emailed after registration.
RUBOFF PATTERNS $60

Learn how to draft your own patterns in this fun & beginner-friendly session. Bring a garment from your closet or choose one at the studio & we’ll show you how to “rub it off” to create multiple looks from one simple master pattern. Suitable for all levels. FASHION DESIGN & ILLUSTRATION
FASHION DESIGN $85

Are you an aspiring Fashion Designer? Or interested in the design process for more freedom & creativity in your own projects? This is the perfect class to introduce students to the endless possibilities available to them in the world of FASHION & how to start their own clothing line and/or small business. We’ll share everything we learned from our fashion school days in San Francisco including small business ownership. Welcome to our FASHION DESIGN community! Fashion Design Workbook included.
FASHION ILLUSTRATION $75

Learn the basics of FASHION ILLUSTRATION as taught in traditional fashion schools. We’ll share everything we learned in our fashion school days in San Francisco! From the best drawing tools, proportions, rendering sketches, let your creativity & imagination flow while learning technical standards in drawing. Develop your own aesthetic as an artist & utilize these skills for your portfolio (or for artistic meditation, a tool to slow down & reconnect with your creativity). Let your true self & style shine through in this all levels class.

Fibers, Arts & Crafts to add intricate handiwork to your sewn garments. Or, MAKE with your hands to meditate, mend & create MAGIC!
HAND SEWING & EMBROIDERY 101 $55

Hand sewing is a lost art, but oh so valuable & needed in our society! It is a skill that can add special details to your machine sewn garments or fiber art projects. Learn basic hand stitches for clothing as well as a fun introduction into hand embroidery w/a hoop.
