TISSU Sewing Studio believes in conscious leadership, focusing on environmental, social, cultural & global impacts on our interrelated world. Our school is based on kindness, integrity, respect, nurturing inner beauty & our communities (near & far). You'll find us volunteering at local events, practicing random acts of kindness & senseless acts of beauty, and encouraging a mindful worldview embracing culture & diversity.
100% handcrafted with fabric remnants & recycled materials.
Students at our studio are encouraged to contribute to the local & global community. In-between our lessons & projects, we happily handcraft TISSU TOTES -- tote bags filled with handmade quilts, toys, pillows, socks, hats, etc. for individuals & families in need. Students can also donate their finished classroom projects to this empowering & uplifting program. Donations are always accepted for cotton fabric, stuffing, yarn, thread, notions, children's books, etc. Our past socially conscious, eco-minded projects/events included:
SEW FOR A CAUSE // Mwanamke Project 3/12/16
PEACE QUILTS - Handsewn Peace Quilts adorned with inspiring words to uplift & motivate
DRESS A GIRL AROUND THE WORLD - Free community sewing aimed at uplifting impoverished women & children in impoverished nations
FREESTYLE FASHION: A CLOTHING SWAP - Recycled eco-fashion aimed at limiting the "throwaway culture"
