INTRODUCTION TO APPLIQUE & EMBROIDERY

SAT. 4/26/25 10AM-12PM $25

Learn basic hand-sewing & hand-embroidery stitches such as the Running Stitch, Backstitch, Satin Stitch, Whip Stitch & more. PROJECT 1 : Create a unique design from our stencils or come up with your own. Add in Applique Art to your Embroidery Hoop to “paint” with textile remnants. PROJECT 2: Bring in 1 or 2 articles of clothing, handbags, etc. to both embroider AND appliqué your wardrobe.

SUPPLIES: Embroidery & Applique Kit included. Please bring in your own garments for Project 2.

Right after class, take your kit & projects & head over to the Wichita Art Museum outdoor gardens. We will MEND-IN-PUBLIC in celebration of Earth Day. We will meet outside in front of main lobby doors at 1PM.

UPCYCLING

DECONSTRUCTION & RUB-OFF PATTERNMAKING

MON. 4/28/25 5:30PM-7:30PM $35

Learn how to deconstruct your clothes, put it back together & how to draft a pattern from ready-made garments.

SUPPLIES: Please bring in 1 or 2 of your favorite fitting garments (shirt, pant, skirt, or dress). The simpler the garment, the easier it is to rub-off. If your garment has many parts to it (collars, pockets, etc) be prepared to be challenged (in a good way!). More details included after registration.

SEWING 101

SAT. 5/3/25 10AM-12PM $40 ($75 special for both workshops)

Learn how to design & sew a basic, comfortable top with sleeves. Students will also learn SEWING 101 foundations such as threading a machine, sewing vocabulary & more. SUPPLIES: Bring in any fabric with a slight stretch (recommended). But you are welcome to be creative & bring in another texture. We supply sewing machines & all other supplies. If you are bringing your own machine, it has to be in working condition. NOTE: We do not service/fix broken machines. More details included after registration.

Learn how to design & sew a basic, comfortable pair of lounge pants with an elastic waist. Students will also learn SEWING 101 foundations such as threading a machine, sewing vocabulary & more. BUTTON-DOWN SHIRT or BLOUSE

The Button-Down Shirt has many parts & requires a little bit of skill & patience. But it is suitable for all sewing levels even beginners. We will break it down into smaller parts. SEWING 101 foundations will also be covered such as threading a machine, sewing terminology, textile properties & much more. SUPPLIES: Please bring in your own textile.
